Long weekend in Colorado.

This past weekend I took a long weekend to visit friends in Colorado. I had a great time hiking in the mountains, playing cribbage with my friends, drinking good beer, and cuddling with their pets. It was a great little vacation!

After my weekend in Boston, I had a workshop in Pittsburg. They definitely kept us busy, but I got to walk around UPitt and Carnegie Mellon a bit. I'm so happy to be going back to Ann Arbor and to sleep in my own bed again!

I've been really missing mountains since moving to MI, especially since it is so flat there- not even as hilly as MN! So I am really excited to be in New Hampshire for the week for a conference, especially since the terrain is slightly more varied. I can pretend these are mountains, right?

The water was so calm! We also saw the first evidence of toxic algae for the season (we think), plus swarms of mayflies. When I started studying chemistry, I never thought I'd end up studying toxic algal blooms on Lake Erie and fighting off mayfly contamination of my samples! Life is so interesting sometimes...
