I just wanted to post a quick progress report on the first stage of my summer vacation. After a lovely week in the Wallis, my parents and I are in Austria, spending a long weekend here before my parents head back to the US. Best of all, after a month of rather terrible weather, we've been enjoying fantastic weather for the whole trip- sunny and clear skies! Our activities have included: hiking around the Matterhorn and the Aletsch Glacier, eating gelato in Italy, petting cows, befriending small German children, driving over more mountain passes than I can remember, walking in ice caves carved into a glacier, and riding gondolas up the wazoo (and up the mountain).
I have decided that I could live here a long time and never get tired of the mountains.
