Day One in Paris.

In mid-September, my parents and I met in Paris for a long weekend. We had amazingly good weather- it was warm and sunny every day we were there! I even managed to get a sunburn, which, even for me, is pretty impressive for late September in Paris.

Anyways, on our first day in Paris, we wandered around the city, starting at the Louvre, walking down the Tuileries garden, and visiting the Orangerie with its famous round rooms displaying massive canvases of Monet's waterlilies (no pictures allowed, of course).

Our next stop was the Musee d'Orsay, which has a wealth of Impressionist paintings, and is in a beautiful building, in fact. Starry Night is one of my favorite paintings (I kept a print of it hanging above my bed for years) and seeing it in person was lovely and arresting in a way that is hard to describe. Starry Night in person is totally different from a print on my bedroom wall. I was mesmerized and could've stared at it for hours.

We ended our day with a walk down the Champs-Élysées at sunset, ending at the Arc de Triomphe.

All in all, it was a great day seeing some of the highlights of Paris.
