Dreikönigskuchen.

Here, January 6th (Dreikönigstag or Epiphany, the day of the three kings) marks the official end of the Christmas season. It is celebrated with Dreikönigskuchen, a sweet bread in which a little baby or other trinket is hidden. The finder is the "king" for the day; the king gets a crown and, supposedly, good luck for the year (I did last year). Since it is probably my last Dreikönigstag in Switzerland, I decided to try my hand at making the traditional cake. Apparently, I still haven't quite figured out how to bake with yeast (I didn't read the part in the directions about using live yeast, and used the dried stuff instead), so it ended up being more biscuit-y than bread-y. Oh, well. There's always next year!
