A trip to Lyme Park.

After our time in Devon, the next stop was Derbyshire. For Pride and Prejudice fans, this area is memorable as the home county of Mr. Darcy and his great estate of Pemberly. In the BBC movie version of P&P, Lyme Park served as the location for Pemberly. Our family had visited Lyme Park back in the summer of 2003, but we decided to go back, for old times' sake. And, actually, there has been quite a bit of restoration work done on the inside of the house, so the visit was definitely different.

Photography was not allowed inside, but the outside was beautiful, as well!

After the house tour, we wandered around the gardens. The gardens are not huge, but the gardens they have are beautiful and well-tended.

Eventually, we walked around the little lake/pond at the back of the house to get the best view, and the sun even popped out for a little while.

Fall is coming!

We ended our day with a stop in Bakewell to do a little shopping and to enjoy a Bakewell tart.

It was quite fun to see Lyme Park again, since I have such vivid memories of seeing it back in 2003 with my sisters. Having watched the BBC version of P&P more times than I care to admit, the house and surroundings are now all part of my imagination when I read the book, so the trip to Lyme Park was well worth it.
