Hiking by Ullswater.

After our time in the Peaks, my parents and I spent the weekend in the Lake District, in Northwest England. We had one beautiful day, so we decided to go for a hike above Ullswater. The day was truly extraordinary, with a clear, blue sky contrasting with the deep, velvety green of the fields and the rusty color of the dying ferns. Plus sheepies. What more could you ask for?

We climbed up for the first part of the hike, getting and better views over Ullswater.

The lake was a really deep, blackish-blue color. I've become more used to the turquoise Swiss lakes, so this was a novelty for me!

Eventually, we ended our climb and reached a saddle point to begin our descent back to the lake. From this side, we could see the other half of the lake. Since Ullswater is curved, it is actually not possible to see the entire lake from anywhere on the shore, so we saw it in parts.

The other side of the lake.

After descending, we hiked along the lake until we were back where we started- the end of a lovely hike!
